Baas International Group is proud to have been a “Gold Sponsor” of the “Quality in Ports” conference which took place 21 – 22 February 2016, under the auspices of H.E. Eng. Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Muqbel – Saudi Minister of Transport and Chairman of Board of Directors of Saudi Ports Authority, H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail – President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and H.E Dr. Nabeel Al Amudi – President of Saudi Ports Authority. In cooperation with Saudi Ports Authority, the workshop was organized by AASTMT’s Maritime Research and Consultation Center (MRCC), Port Training Institute (PTI) and the Port Academy for Maritime & Technical Studies (PACAD).
The conference gave participants the opportunity to interact with both local and international leaders from within the Ports and Logistics industries. The focus of the conference centered around development through advancements in Technology and Quality Standards within this sector of business with the future vision being for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia being globally recognized as a benchmark for quality supply chain management and service delivery. Similarly the presentations from the various keynote speakers highlighted the importance of Dry Ports and Inland Container Depots (ICD’s) as natural extension and enabling arms of seaports thus contributing efficiently to the competitive positioning of these seaports. The general technical & economical consensus reached during the interactive discussions, was aimed at increasing port efficiency by reducing dwell times as opposed to increasing storage capacities.
